NOTICE OF BOND ELECTION IN GLENDIVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Notice is hereby given by the trustees of the Unified School District No. 1 of Dawson County, state of Montana, that pursuant to a certain resolution adopted at a meeting of the board of trustees of the school district held on the 14th day of December 2015, an election of the registered electors of  Glendive Elementary School District No.1 of Dawson County, state of Montana, will be held on the 22nd day of March, 2016, for the purpose of voting upon the question of whether or not the trustees may issue and sell  general obligation school building bonds of the District in one or more series in the aggregate principal amount of up to Twenty-Seven Million Nine Hundred Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($27,900,000) for the purpose of providing funds, together with other legally available funds, if any, to pay the costs of building or improving schools in accordance with the District’s facility assessment and facility master plan to accommodate current and projected student enrollment in the District, to include acquiring approximately 9.63 acres of land located on West Lark Lane and contiguous to Jefferson Elementary School campus and designing, constructing, and equipping thereon a new elementary school building to serve grades 3 through 5, with such school to consist of classrooms, a library, a commons, a kitchen, a gymnasium, offices, and related improvements; installing technology infrastructure at schools in the District; making basic maintenance improvements at Jefferson and Lincoln Elementary Schools and Washington Middle School, such as replacing and/or upgrading mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems, and making site improvements and ADA upgrades; making major renovations to Jefferson Elementary School, Washington Middle School, and the first floor area of Lincoln Elementary School to enhance functionality and learning environments; and paying the costs associated with the sale and issuance of the bonds. Each series of the bonds shall bear interest at a rate or rates to be determined at the time of sale and be payable semiannually during a term of not more than twenty (20) years.

Ballots may be returned to the following location, at the following times:

The Dawson County Clerk and Recorder’s office prior to Election Day, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Election Day 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A qualified registered elector who will be absent from the district during the time the election is being conducted may: a) vote in person in the election administrator’s office as soon as the ballots are available and until noon the day before the ballots are scheduled to be mailed; b) make a written request, signed by the applicant and addressed to the election administrator, that the ballot be mailed to an address other than the address that appears on the registration card.

If you miss this regular registration deadline (30 days prior to the election; February 22, 2016), you may still register for the election by showing up at the county election office up to and including on election day. Between noon and the close of business on the day before Election Day, you may complete and submit a voter registration card, but you will need to return to the district voting location on Election Day to pick up and vote a ballot.

NOTICE OF BOND ELECTION IN DAWSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT

Notice is hereby given by the trustees of the Unified School District No. 1 of Dawson County, state of Montana, that pursuant to a certain resolution adopted at a meeting of the board of trustees of the school district held on the 14th day of December 2015, an election of the registered electors of  High School District No.1 of Dawson County, state of Montana, will be held on the 22nd day of March, 2016, for the purpose of voting on the question of whether the Board may issue and sell general obligation school building bonds of the District in one or more series in the aggregate principal amount of up to Five Million Seven Hundred Forty-Two Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($5,742,000) for the purpose of providing funds, together with other legally available funds, if any, to pay the costs of repairs and improvements to the Dawson High School Building in accordance with the District’s facility assessment and facility master plan to include replacing or repairing heating, ventilation and electrical systems, making ADA upgrades, remodeling the library, constructing an appropriate weight room, and remodeling building entrances for improved safety and security; repairing and reconstructing the Graveyard Coulee water drainage channel running between Dawson High School and the football/track facility; related improvements; and paying the costs associated with the sale and issuance of the bonds. The bonds shall bear interest at a rate or rates to be determined at the time of sale and be payable semiannually during a term of not more than twenty (20) years.
