Today (the 24th), during lunch, is the senior Thankful Door Decorating chapter project. Please grab your lunch and head to our chosen door (see Google Classroom for more specifics). The second upcoming date is your chapter scholarship deadline of March 10th. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Fawns for more information. NHS Candidates: This is just a friendly reminder the application deadline is exactly a week from today (March 3rd by 4 pm). If you have any questions about the application or NHS membership, don't hesitate to contact Ms. Fawns. Track: There will be a short meeting after school on Monday, March 3rd for those planning on going out for track, in Mr. Temple's room. The first practice will be Monday, March 10th. Tennis: There are tennis sign ups in the office. Come down and sign up if you are interested.

🌱🔬 Building Life from the Ground Up! 🔬🌱 Mr. Pagawisan's Sophomore Biology classes took teamwork and scientific understanding to the next level with their Biological Towers activity! 🏗️✨ Using a rubber band contraption with tied yarns, students had to capture and carefully stack beakers labeled with the Levels of Organization of Life—from Atom all the way to Biosphere! 🌎🔬 This hands-on challenge tested not just their biology knowledge but also their communication and coordination. Watching them strategize, problem-solve, and celebrate each successful stack was a sight to see! 🎉 Way to go, young scientists! Keep building your knowledge—one level at a time! 🧪👏

Don't forget that tonight is Parent Teacher Conferences at DCHS and across Glendive Public Schools! Our teachers will be at the schools until 8 pm to visit with parents and guardians regarding student progress. We hope to see as many people as possible!

DCHS Juniors recently attended a financial literacy event held at DCHS which was a hands-on Reality Fair where they explored future financial responsibilities and how that is connected to career choices. Students were assigned careers with varied earning power and then had to budget monthly expenses such as mortgages and rent, auto payments, insurance, groceries and other various lifestyle choices. Students also participated in team building exercises as well as listened to speakers discussing investments, savings, debt, credit, entrepreneurship and apprenticeships. Thank you to Sara Engle at MT Dept of Labor for coordinating this event as well as the local businesses and individuals who volunteered time to help at the Reality Fair, lead team building exercises, and serve as guest speakers.

The Eastern A Divisional Basketball tournament is next weekend, February 27-March 1 , in Billings at the Metra. The DCHS boys team has earned the number 1 seed from the Northeast A and will open the tournament on Thursday, February 27, at 1:30 pm. The DCHS girls will have their play-in game against Sidney to earn their way into the tournament this Saturday. GO DEVILS!!!!!

Good Luck to the DCHS Lady Devils at their divisional basketball play-in game this weekend! The game will be on Saturday in Sidney against the Lady Eagles. Tipoff will be at 12:30 pm. GO LADY DEVILS!!!!

Congratulations to the DCHS Wrestling team for their performance at the State Wrestling Meet! Our team came home with 5 state placers with Jaden Silha as the 175 lb. State Champion! GO DEVILS!!!!!!

Battle of the Beaks: A Natural Selection Lab Activity In Mr. Pagawisan's Sophomore Biology class, students brought Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection to life through an exciting lab activity called "Battle of the Beaks"! Students took on the role of finches, just like those Darwin observed in the Galapagos Islands. Using different "beaks"—tweezers, forks, binder clips, and clothespins—they competed to collect various "foods" such as beans, macaroni, rubber bands, and toothpicks. Each beak had its own advantages and challenges, perfectly illustrating how certain adaptations can improve survival in different environments. To make things even more fun, the students who gathered the fewest "foods" in each group had to do the chicken dance, filling the classroom with laughter and energy while reinforcing key concepts about natural selection. It was a day of hands-on learning, friendly competition, and unforgettable fun. Great job to all the students for making the lesson come alive!
