Welcome Lady Joy Sayson - Washington Middle School My name is Lady Joy Sayson, but I go by “Joy.” I am truly excited to join this wonderful community as a Special Education Teacher. I currently work at Washington Middle School, where many of my students think I am either Korean or Japanese—but I am proudly Filipina! I have a background in psychology, professional teaching, and special education. I recently completed my Master’s degree in Education with Special Needs. Over the past 10 years, I have worked in inclusive and multicultural settings that shaped my passion for teaching and helping children succeed. For five years, I was a kindergarten teacher in Saudi Arabia, and now it is a big and thrilling step for me to work with middle schoolers. I also served as a reading therapist, where I supported children with ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities, helping them build confidence and develop their skills. In this new role, my goal is to create a caring and fun classroom where every child feels valued and respected. I am especially excited to build strong connections with students, families, and colleagues as we work together to support each child thrive. The best part of working in education for me is simply the children. I love watching them grow and laugh. Every day is different, and I often find myself learning from them just as much as they learn from me. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, cooking, baking, and relaxing by the beach to watch sunsets. Lately, I’ve been trying out pickleball for fun. Family means so much to me—I was born and raised in the Philippines in a close-knit Christian family, and my mom is truly my best friend. I’m so excited to begin this journey with you all! Warmly, Joy
