Jesse Schaaf - WMS

Welcome Jesse Schaaf - WMS

My name is Jesse Schaaf, and I am excited to serve as the new principal of Washington Middle School this year. Prior to this position, I spent the past eight years teaching high school history, psychology, and civics in Glendive and Wolf Point. I hold a bachelor’s degree in History-Political Science and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, both from the University of Montana- Go Griz! Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work with great students, staff, and communities, and I am excited to bring those experiences to WMS.

My goal as principal is to build a strong school culture where students feel safe, supported, challenged, and proud to be a Demon. I believe strongly in high expectations, strong relationships, personal responsibility, and a partnership between school and home. I am particularly excited to work alongside our staff and families to help every student grow, both academically and as a person.

My favorite part of education has always been the people. There is nothing better than watching a student gain confidence, discover a strength they didn't know they had, or accomplish something they once thought was out of reach as well as working alongside school staff and family members to support students in this journey.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, my wife Morgan and two daughters, Scout and Ollie. I also enjoy being involved in making the Glendive community a better place through volunteering, coaching and following sports, and finding opportunities to be outdoors. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to call Glendive home and am looking forward to a great year at WMS.

Go Demons!
