We just want to inform you that we have found a sewage line break at Washington Middle School under the south part of the building. This line is an original sewage line that has been in place since that part of the building was constructed in the 1930’s. The break is not affecting the entire building, just the south part. Due to the break, we can not use the restrooms, sinks or drains on any of the floors on that part of the building. We have relocated multiple classes because of the smell to those rooms. The Glendive Fire Department has assured us that there is no safety risk for our students/staff to continue our regular operations. We DO have functioning bathrooms and sinks in other parts of our building and the kitchen was not affected by this leak. Lastly, we have had to cancel our pre-K classes for the remainder of the week until this issue is resolved or we can set up another part of our building to accommodate their needs. We will be continuing to work through this issue and hope to have everything back to normal operation as soon as possible. We will continue to try and keep everyone informed about these types of situations. Thank you!

GPS Communication: We have recently heard that some people are not getting our messages from the district/schools. We are constantly working to improve in this area, but we need your help! Please, Please, Please, if you haven't downloaded our app, please do so now (the app isn't just for parents). This is the way that we are going to send out the majority of important information coming from the district or individual schools. Please just go to your app store and search "Glendive Public Schools." Download the app and check your notification settings (Menu - Settings). Check out the video below for a tutorial. We are also able to use text to get information out. Please make sure your cell phone is on file at your child's school to get these messages by text. We won't always send out a text, but if your cell phone is in our system, you will get it when we send it out. Also, we have the ability to make calls to every phone. Please know that these will be used for various reasons. It is not always an emergency situation that this will be used. Please make sure that any phone you want to be called on is recorded at your child's school. Please know that if an all-call goes out, it will also be sent out on our app, our website, as a text message, on Facebook, and Twitter. We will be sending it on various platforms so that we make sure that you get the message. As always, we appreciate your support and patience as we continue to improve our efforts to keep you informed with what is going on in the schools. I just wanted to inform you that there was a soft lockdown today at Lincoln Elementary School. The soft lockdown was initiated for the respect of other students in the building. In a soft lockdown, the teachers continue to teach in their classrooms as we need the hallways for various reasons. Law Enforcement and Ambulance was both here at the school, but there was not a risk to any student. I know with everything going on in the world everyone is heightened to these types of situations. I know that sometimes word spreads before we are able to get information out to the parents. We will continue to try and inform everyone as soon as we are able in these types of situations. Thank you! Stephen Schreibeis GPS Superintendent
